Whenever I make a big decision I always do my research. I use Internet search engines, read books, ask questions, and try to go directly to the source. I've decided that I want to take a trip next year to Italy and I was recently perusing through a travel brochure called Cosmos and saw some really affordable travel packages.
There are cities like Rome which are metropolitan in nature and is filled with tourists and other world travelers. There are also cities like Venice that are very beachy--(which is my personal home turf coming from someone born and bred in a beach city). Maybe I can visit Lake Como and see if George Clooney will invite me to his lakeside villa.
Speaking of incredibly attractive Caucasian men---Italian men LOVE us! Let me say that again. Italian men LOVE us! Not only do Italian men adore black women, but they are discouraged that there are not many of us who live there, so whenever a African American female visitor comes to their country, they get the royal treatment...like you're a foreign diplomat being served on international soil.
I haven't exactly experienced this myself personally, but I am very much drawn to the idea of visiting a country that treats a woman like me with adoration, respect, and reverence. I've been told that they admire women of color for more than our natural beauty. They admire us for our quirky personalities, flirtatious nature, and eccentric sense of style.
It's not often that you hear of a country or town that admires a specific type of woman, In fact, I don't have any knowledge of another other place that has a specific interest and/or desire in a woman of a specific ethnic background---with the exception perhaps of that country of origin. However, it amazes me in a country that has a tiny population of Black women, is the same place that actively seeks us and works to revel us in their chivalry when greeted on their soil.
So therefore I'm making plans to go to Italy. It may not be this year, but it will be some time soon. I am still single after all.

I am excited for you...Mingle and take LOTS of pictures!
ReplyDeleteUmmm, I'm doing my best to relocate there quick, fast and in a hurry.

ReplyDeletehaii i like to go italy also..pls can help me anyone..?
ReplyDeleteI want visit Italy for that reason also! Actually there is another country like that, not too many know about. TURKEY!! I studied abroad in Turkey a few years ago and you would’ve thought that I was a star! Actually some british tourists thought that i was a celebrity because of the way the Turkish people acted around me. I couldn’t go 10 minutes without someone asking to take a photo with me. The men LOVED my skin. They say “chocolate” instead of black. The caucasion students that i were studying with over there were mystified when crowds of turkish people swarmed toward me. British tourists were confused, and THEY EVEN started taking picutres of me. One time my friend had to pull me away from a crowd because so many people were taking turns with getting their pictures taken with me. I felt so bad because when I leaved they sounded so sad!
ReplyDeleteI met A LOT of cute turkish guys there that I still talk to and its been a few years. Turkey is predominately Muslim but its nothing like what the media portrays. Its very cosmopolitan. And I like to describe it as a “middle eastern NYC” though they aren’t in the middle east. I was in Istanbul and Ankara and they weren't overbearing about clothing, and I felt pretty safe there as a woman. Even fully hijabed women (with the black veil covering their faces and bodies) were asking to take pictures of me! One older woman covered from head to toe even grabbed my face and kissed my cheek! I wasn’t really feeling that but she was sincere and telling me that i was beautiful. THere are probably hundreds of my pictures up on turkish teen’s fb site now lol! I tried to get my classmated to take a picture of me taking a picture with someone else so I did capture some of the craziness.
