My Addiction To "The Sims"

One day my brother had a PC game that he thought I would be interested in.  It was called "The Sims".  I remember hearing about a game called "Sim City" a couple of years back.  Sim City is a game where you build amusements parks, buildings, bridges, etc.  I wasn't really interested until I saw him playing it one afternoon.

The Sims is a game where you create a family and treat the family like everyday living.  You start with a home that you need to build.  The home is furnished with appliances, beds, and plumbing.  Then you have to find a job for your Sim.  A job can range from anything to a firefighter to a rock star.  It's pretty awesome.  You can also pair up your Sim with another Sim and they become close friends.  You can also make them become romantically involved.  The romance can mature into a marriage and the Sim can even have children!

Well I'm posting this because I have to admit that I suffer from an addiction to The Sims game.  I've been playing this game off and on for the last 6 years.  Yep...its bad guys.  I would like to emphasize the fact that I've played it off and on.  When I found out several months ago that there was an app in the App Store for The Sims I didn't hesitate to download it.

The App Store updates this app once a month and now I'm working on creating a baby for my newlywed Sims.  This is probably the nerdiest blog post I've ever written, but this is my truth and I embrace my ultimate nerdiness!  Why is this game so addictive?  Why can't I just stop?  Ok...time to check on my Sims now.

Do you have a video or PC game that you're addicted to?

  2. I cannot express how much I love The Sims. I've been playing since the very first PC game and I have three of the games for handheld systems. With The Sims 3 I just started buying the expansion packs only because I could afford to buy with my own money and what a wondrous decision that was. But because it is pretty time consuming I only play it sporadically, and like not at all when I'm at college. But yes, great to know I'm not alone.
