Set in the rough streets of Detroit Rapaport plays a high school teen who loves hip hop music and black culture. ReplyDeleteMonster's Ball? Seriously? :/
ReplyDeleteI find it sad that they only time race is mentioned is when it's about Black people.
ReplyDeleteLately I've noticed that Blacks are the only one who are treated as if they are not part of the "human race".
No other groups gets treated like that.
Maybe it's because of our features, maybe it's other factors.
They never make racism about no one else.
Keanu Reeve, Sean Lennon, don't have to talk about race (no one ever ask them if they prefer to be seen as Asian or White)
In fact lately I've been seeing mostly Asian women with White men on tv, and it does not raise one single eye brow.
Asian and White = Asian looking child, but no one complain.
But if it's a Black child, suddenly White folks wants blonde babies (even though most of them aren't even naturally blonde)
I loved Zebra head! It was a film that grew my ever budding crush on Rappaport...he's so yummy.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot some lol A bronx tale, the body guard, guess who (which is one of my favorites)! and many others =)
ReplyDeleteFlight with Denzel Washington was a pretty good movie with an interracial love interest.
ReplyDeleteYou should put Liberty Heights on here. I love Ben and Sylvia. I wish they really were a couple, if they weren't.
ReplyDeleteI would add "My Last Day Without You" starring Nicole Beharie and Ken Duken to this list. In the US, it's only been shown at film festivals, but in Germany it was released in the cinemas. I have it on dvd (I live in Sweden and ordered it via Amazon's German site) and think it's a great movie.
ReplyDeleteOoooh...I have to check that one out! I enjoyed watching her in 'Shame' with Michael Fassbender...another one to add to this list!
ReplyDeleteI know this will be hard to digest (esp for Black men), but it's *Black Women with White Men* that's the topic here.
ReplyDelete<*sigh*>-_-
MTV's Love Songs.
